Service availability and transparency

Durmah is an independent study service operated by Durmah Learning Pte Ltd, Singapore. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or officially connected to any university. University names identify study context only.

What you can use now

The independent writing workspace provides a place to write your own reasoning, source notes and reflections. It is available to students from any university without a university email address. Text there stays in the open tab unless you download it or deliberately request an available AI feature. Download notes before closing or refreshing.

Existing members retain access to saved work, downloads, privacy requests, account controls and billing cancellation. The independent workspace does not automatically grant access to paid features, institutional routes or another person's work.

Permission is specific to the task

Before AI use, record whether your work is independent practice or connected to an assessment, which legal jurisdiction applies, and your permission to share the material. The declaration is your statement. It is not university approval. Unclear or prohibited use remains restricted.

For permitted assessment support, state that you have checked the applicable course, module and assessment rules, including external AI processing. Ordinary use does not require staff approval of every file or a separate reviewed university-policy record. Your declaration can be reused for the selected task or material for up to 30 days; a different task needs its own declaration. Known restrictions still apply. Durmah cannot grant permission on a university's behalf.

What AI coaching does

Where enabled and permitted by the relevant rules, coaching helps you understand concepts and examine your own reasoning. It must not provide a replacement submission, conceal AI use or bypass assessment restrictions. Generated feedback can be wrong and is not an official mark, grade prediction, professional legal advice or certificate of authorship.

Legal systems and coverage

England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are distinct legal jurisdictions. A UK law course does not necessarily cover every jurisdiction or qualify a graduate to practise across the UK. The writing workspace supports general study skills; choosing a jurisdiction does not mean we have verified comprehensive coverage of that jurisdiction or your syllabus.

Providers and processing

Our individual-study processing rule excludes model training, fine-tuning, shared improvement datasets and using one student's private material to answer another student. The operator has authorised an adult learner release for declared permitted use. This operating decision is separate from independent review or legal certification. Only configured, allowed providers can process requests; known refusals and specific restrictions still block use. The availability above reports the current service state.

• Supabase provides authentication, database and file storage. The current Durmah database project is hosted in Singapore.
• Netlify hosts the application and its server functions. Processing is not represented as UK-only.
• Google provides shared-workspace sign-in. A university email verification step is not required. This does not establish university membership or endorsement.
• Resend supports account and service emails; Stripe supports payments. Durmah should not receive your full payment-card details through study tools.
• The code includes OpenAI, Anthropic and voice integrations with Google and ElevenLabs. They are subject to separate release checks. A configured integration does not mean that it is enabled or approved for your material.

Durmah remains responsible for its provider arrangements, retention settings, international processing and privacy safeguards. A student's declaration does not transfer those responsibilities to the student. We do not promise zero provider retention or no model training without evidence for the actual service configuration. Do not provide confidential, sensitive, restricted or third-party personal information.

Your records and choices

Task declarations and content-free request decisions can be exported from the independent workspace. These records cannot prove authorship, show every use of AI or certify compliance. You can revoke task permission to stop future requests; revocation cannot recall data already transmitted.

Optional product and research emails have separate choices that are off by default. Essential account, security and payment messages are separate. A LinkedIn connection, a trial account or agreement to let us record feedback is not automatically marketing consent or permission to publish a testimonial.
